We All Have Our Crosses To Bear

It's with a heavy heart that I must report that the above picture reflects the two activities on the agenda for today.

I know, I know, while most of you get the privilege, or I daresay, the joy of going to work today, I have to suffer through a day of golf and fishing.

It's not going to be easy. But I'll muddle through somehow. Not that I'm trying to rub this in by any means. Why that would make me a dickhead of the tallest order.

There will be some adverse conditions to overcome.

Such as:

1) The temperature. The forecast calls for a temperature of 76 degrees. Everyone knows that it's much, much better golfing weather when the temperature is 77 degrees.

2) Abundant sunshine. I may have to wear sunglasses to protect my eyes from the Sun's deadly rays, and deflect the reflection of abundant sunlight on what the weatherman called pristine and calm water conditions.

3) There are unwashed dishes in the sink. How will I ever be able to concentrate on hitting a good golf shot knowing that those dishes will languish there in the sink for an extra 8 to 10 hours?

4) How will I be able to enjoy the promised calm and pristine river conditions knowing that a load of laundry will have to wait an additional day to be done?

As you can see, it's not going to be all fun and games for me today.

You, sir, are a smart-ass to the nth degree! I LOVE IT!!! This made me laugh out loud! (oh, wait, am I supposed to use 'LOL'?!)

I hope you make it through your day of misery. Just to make you a little jealous, I'm going to rub in the fact that YOU don't get to wait in the airport security line with me today, or take off YOUR shoes, or have YOUR bag opened up and searched, squeeze YOUR body into the tiny little airplane seat, or.... ;-)

Jane -- Well I'll try to make the best of this truly sad experience. ;)

ChiTown Girl -- Your day sounds so much better than mine is going to be. Okay, maybe not. ;)

Gloating is not pretty.

When you finish your rigorous activities, I hope you won't be tired.

I think I'm going to have to beg you to get on down off that cross. I hate to see you suffer up there.

How you do bear your suffering with such dignity. You sir, are an inspiration to us all. I think I'll petition the Vatican for canonization after this day.

Hopefully you don't just end up fishing for golf balls.

Grr. The only thing saving you is that a) I'm not a big fan of either of those activities. And #3 that I have a date with my husband and some Fried Frito Pie tonight at the state fair.

Try not to think of those dishes too much.

Well I am hungover on my second to last day of work. Jealous?

You poor thing you, I feel for you I really do. I'd make you cookies to take golfing and fishing, but that might just make you cry.

Just checking in... golfing was so-so, as far as scoring goes, must have been the worry over the dishes. ;) Now just waiting for the kid to show up to hit the river. He's never on time, like 7 minutes late as of this comment.

Have fun!

I've always wanted to try and golf. I've done Putt Putt but not actual golf.

What a day here! Thank you for the comments (even the "bugger off" comment was welcome) :)

Lot's of fun, and now I'm lot's of beat. It's getting harder to keep up with my 26 yr old son, but it's fun trying. And I caught more fish than him for a change.

good to hear - fathers should always catch more fish than their sons - unless their sons are four and they are trying to lose on purpose for fear of tantrum. Or do 26year olds have those too? Bloody hope not. Shoot me now.

Glad you weren't offended by comment - having feeling might be hard to offend you but none the less glad to see you haven't banned me :D

Lucky you! And I like the way you put it, too. So how was it?

gaijinwife -- You definitely didn't offend me. I laughed, outloud actually, reading those two words. ;)

michelle -- It was a great day. It's a rarity that my son and I have a week day off together to spend together.

I will pray that your day is not too grueling and that you make it out without too much dehydration from having to sit outside under the sun's scorching UV damaging rays and perhaps a hangover from too much beer.
Good luck my friend. I will keep my fingers crossed that this day goes by quickly and uneventfully for you :)

Sorry, but golf and fishing both give me the heebie jeebies. Men in pastels freak me out almost as much as dying fish. Hoe the sunburn wasn't too bad!!! ;P

LOL -- hope you had a great day JPT. :)
